Program Description This program is intended to prepare participants to for the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) specialty examination in nursing professional development (NPD) by increasing the participant’s foundational nursing professional development knowledge. - Short term measurement: Upon course completion, 80% of participants will report an increase in their knowledge of the content found on the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) specialty examination in nursing professional development. - Long term measurement: Completed follow up survey results will indicate that 85% of surveyed participants who took the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) specialty exam in nursing professional development will report successful certification was achieved. |
Pre- and Post-Course Practice Exam Information Registrants will be enrolled in the NPD Cert Prep Course Pre- and Post-tests in ANPD’s Professional Development Center. Assess knowledge gained by comparing your post-course score with your pre-course score. Exam scores are provided immediately on completion of each 60-question test. In addition, the practice exams allow identification of domains as areas of focus when preparing for the certification exam. Instructions to access the Pre- and Post-tests will be provided to attendees two (2) weeks before the course. |
Course Topics
This hands-on, multi-day course is intended to increase your understanding of nursing professional development and help you prepare for the NPD certification exam offered by ANCC. The curriculum covers the major domains of practice found in the board certification exam:
- Program/Project Management and Process Improvement
- Educational Process Standards
- Leadership
- Ethical, Legal and Regulatory Standards
- Evidence-Based Practice and Research
- Technology
Program Disclosures:
- This course is provided by the Association for Nursing Professional Development, and joint provided by the Heart of America Affiliate. Association for Nursing Professional Development is accredited with distinction as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
ANPD is responsible for adherence to ANCC criteria for this course.
Course Completion Criteria:
- Attendance of the entire course is required for awarding 16 contact hours. Partial credit may be awarded for attendance of a full single day (8 hours for in-person courses).
- Completion of the online course evaluation is required.
Speakers
Theresa is a master’s prepared board-certified nursing professional development specialist with more than 30 years of health care experience where she held diverse roles including leadership, quality, and consulting. She currently serves as the Director of Education at the second largest freestanding psychiatric mental health hospital. She is a certified Caritas Coach. Theresa has extensive experience in education design and creating innovative professional development activities to close the knowledge, skill, practice gap. She has presented to a diversity of audiences on the local, state, national, and international audiences, including podium presentations at ANPD and the Magnet Conference. Her passions include celebrating the unique talents of all nurses, coaching them to grow and develop their professional nursing practice, and improving the quality of patient care. As a healthcare consultant, she has helped many organizations achieve the esteemed ANCC Magnet designation. As a professional development practitioner, she has planned, implemented, and evaluated a homegrown seamless to transition practice program that yielded excellent New Graduate satisfaction scores, very high retention rates, and improved patient outcomes. Theresa can be described as having high energy and creating a warm, welcoming environment which are important to facilitate learning.
